Art has always been used as a
therapy. It helps in improving not just our physical health but also improves
our mental and emotional wellbeing. This process of creativity and recovery can
indeed help anyone in articulating his or herself artistically. More so, it assists
us in developing as well as managing our feelings and improves self-awareness.
Art therapists work with all kinds of people from singles to couple to old
people who want to explore themselves.
I know what you are probably thinking by now! Trust me you don't need to be an artist to do to do this therapy. In fact, anyone can take the benefits of this therapy. You don’t need to be an artist to receive the benefits, and there are people that can work with you and help you in finding the underlying messages communicated through your art. There are professional people who will find out the hidden meaning behind your art. This in turn encourages personal development and enhance cognitive function.

Therapist in fact can also understand the meanings behind expressive arts like sculpture making, visual art expression and even photography. Art likes these in fact relieves stress and helps us in discovering ourselves better.
All in all, I will encourage everyone to try this once in a life time. You do not need to be gifted with art to do this, either should you be afraid to try this. Art is in fact a very important part in our lives and we should absolutely promote it. Do notice the next time you are upset may be listening to good music might help you. Dancing might help others. More so when you see a professional art therapist he or she will indeed help you in finding out your feelings behind the design you painted or the music you like. They will in fact help you find solutions to the problems discovered in our therapy. Research has even showed that a simple act of coloring can help you relieve from stress. Unfortunately, we only see coloring as the act children do and not adults.
So, I will end this by saying that put all
these social expectations at halt and develop a habit of expressing yourself
through art because it is in fact very soothing.

Amazingπ

ReplyDeleteVery true, I guess its because in abstract art we all see what we want to see. We always end up projecting either our problems or our happiness onto those pieces of art and it helps us feel a little less alone.
